Launched in 2007, it didn’t take long for Speeddate.com to create controversy in the online dating world! If you were one of Facebook members who used the “Have You Ever”, “Would You Rather” or “Romantic Gifts” , it meant that you were now signed up for Speeddate.com.
Their sign up process is simple and membership is free but, you’re only notified after you’ve signed up for a “free” membership that there two types of memberships. Premium memberships are $15.99/mo for 6 months, $19.99/mo for 3 months or $24.99 for one month.
It’s not very clear what the differences are between free and premium memberships. There’s a list of benefits with a paid membership, but I’d like to glimpse a chart that compares the features available for both types.
The look and feel of the site is average, nothing special. Given that this site is only a few year old and is tapping into the supposed next phase of online dating.
Navigation of the site is very easy, all areas of the site are clearly labeled. The search feature is seriously defective. You can’t filter by interest, ethnicity, religion, the list goes on. A big turnoff in my book. Without these filters, the speeddate.com system will display an endless list of dates for you to either okay or reject. And that overcomes the purpose of speed dating, which is to save time!
Speeddate.com, an interesting idea with bad implementation.

I met my all time love at Speeddate.com. We’ve been together since 10/09 and it’s the best relationship I’ve ever had. It took me a long time, but when God was ready for it to happen, it did. Back when I was doing the online dating thing, speeddate.com was probably my favorite site. Like anything else, you have to put your time in and go thru a lot of dates (some good, some bad) before you fine THE ONE. Have faith that God will deliver and He will…even if it’s thru the online dating world!
